If you are a fall bride then you are likely receiving the RSVP notes in the mail. This is always an exciting time! Before you know it, these cards will soon lead to seating at your wedding. Perhaps you’ve decided on a more formal setting with assigned seating. While we can’t help you with the seating chart and family advice, “Now, don’t seat Aunt Anne next to cousin Calvin because she has not forgiven him for last years thanksgiving jokes”. We can offer some unique ideas to simple table numbers.
Favorite Places – Make each table a favorite place you and your beau love or have shared. Write a brief explanation on why the place is special. Consider your first date, your favorite restaurant, vacations, etc. Instead of a number, laminate the name of the place, or perhaps a picture. Provide a brief explanation about why the place is special. This not only makes your seating chart more creative, it helps guests get to know you and your future spouse. It also helps guests mingle as they’ll want to read each table location.
Mutual Interest – Do you and your future spouse share a mutual hobby or sport? Baseball Fanatics have named their tables after baseball parks. World Travelers? Name the tables after favorite destinations. I was at a wedding where both the bride and groom played Ultimate Frisbee. Every table was marked by a Frisbee and an Ultimate Frisbee terminology. For example, the hammer, which is a high overhead throw; the disc flies upside down in a parabolic type path. Who knew?
Pictures of the Bride & Groom – Grab some markers, poster board, the digital camera and go! Write the table numbers and take fun pictures of you and your love holding the numbers. Guests will love the creativity and seeing pictures of you! Planning ahead? Use your engagement pictures and simply write or paste a number on the photos.
